Assistance & Community Service

Community Outreach

•  Rescuing and shelter horses till the end of their life.

•  Providing temporary winter and longer shelter for horses whose owners can’t financially support them due to their own personal mishaps or medical expenses.

•  Shared Gifts has provided temporary financial support for low-income horse owners to provide corrective shoeing and/or hoof trimming and medications for their horses.

•  Loaning our full horse body sling to surrounding veterinarians and farmers.

•  Dawn-Mar students and their families help some emotionally disabled youngsters earn money to participate in Special Olympics through riding lessons.

•  Shared Gifts and Dawn-Mar volunteers assist in all age therapeutic sessions (some requiring ramp and lift).


Education

•  Teaching horsemanship and equine care of rescued/sheltered/elder horses to disabled (emotional or physical) and able youngsters.

•  Shared Gifts provides 90% of the cost of lessons and activities of the youngsters mentioned above within a longstanding framework of 4H and Special Olympic clubs.

•  Through the volunteerism of Dawn-Mar students and families, Shared Gifts provides horse education and riding for special needs classes from surrounding middle schools and the summer horsemanship program for Camp Spaulding (Child & Family Services Concord).

•  Shared Gifts is committed to providing horsemanship program for the sight impaired.

•  Shared Gifts provides a one-week horsemanship camp at Dawn-Mar Ranch for all volunteering youngsters. The camp includes guest speakers and field trips to inspiring equine institutions in New England.

•  Dawn-Mar hosts occupational, rehabilitation clients, currently a young man from the JAG program and Concord’s Community Bridges is with us almost every day of the week.

•  Dawn-Mar's 4H Club loans our manikins to community organizations who help teach portable CPR.

•  Shared Gifts and Dawn-Mar have provided “hands on” programs for Veterans from the Tilton Veterans Home, as well as past events educating and entertaining younger families of our Veterans.

Community Service


•  We serve in soup kitchens.

•  We provide holiday food baskets to food pantries.

•  We visit various nursing homes with our students and mini-horses.
